What is Live Tally Mode?
Live Tally Mode is the launch architecture of Talk2Tally. When an approved WhatsApp user asks a question, the Talk2Tally edge agent connected to your local Tally receives the request, queries your Tally data on the spot, and returns the answer through WhatsApp. Your full Tally database is not synced to Talk2Tally central servers.
Can Talk2Tally change my Tally data?
No. Talk2Tally is read-only by design — the write methods of Tally's XML gateway are not compiled into the product, so it is architecturally incapable of creating, modifying, or deleting any entry. Every query is recorded with the user, time, and what was asked, so you can see exactly who asked what and when.
What Tally versions are supported?
TallyPrime (supported versions, including 3.0 / 4.0 / 5.0+) and Tally.ERP 9 Release 6.0 or later. Older versions (Tally 9 or ERP 9 Release 5.4 and earlier) are not supported; you would need to upgrade Tally first.
Does my full Tally data go to the cloud?
No. In the launch version, Talk2Tally runs in Live Tally Mode. Your full Tally database stays on your system and is not synced to Talk2Tally central servers. When an approved WhatsApp user asks a question, the edge agent connected to your local Tally processes the request and sends back the answer through WhatsApp.
Does it work if the Tally PC is off?
No. In Live Tally Mode, your Tally system, internet connection, and Talk2Tally edge agent must all be running for WhatsApp questions to be answered. If any of these is unavailable, the user receives an offline/unavailable response. Always-on/offline access will require a separate advanced analytics setup in the future — see the pricing FAQ.
How many users are included in the Owner Plan?
Two WhatsApp users per Tally company. Typical setup: the owner and one accountant or finance person. Each user gets role-based access so you can decide who sees what.
What happens during onboarding?
After your demo and payment, we run a guided onboarding session. Talk2Tally connects through a secure QR-based edge agent, then we verify the right Tally company, configure your WhatsApp users, set role-based permissions, test the first set of real questions on your own data, and train the owner and accountant. Guided onboarding is included with the Owner Plan for launch customers.
Can I add more Tally companies later?
Yes. Additional Tally companies can be configured. For larger setups — group companies, branches, or CA firms — we offer custom plans. Talk to Sales on WhatsApp for a quote.
Does Talk2Tally replace Tally?
No. Tally still runs on your Windows PC exactly as before. You still use Tally for creating entries, closing books, filing GST, and everything else. Talk2Tally is a read-only query layer on top — a faster way to ask questions and get answers from your existing Tally.
Is WhatsApp secure for business data?
Talk2Tally uses Meta's official WhatsApp Business Cloud API. Messages travel encrypted in transit between your phone, Meta's infrastructure, and Talk2Tally. We never share your messages or data with anyone else, and every query is recorded with the user, time, and what was asked so the owner always knows who asked what.
